Q: Today's question tests your general understanding of sitcom rules, the laws which govern the behavior of all sitcom characters. For example, if you are about to tell a friend that he can no longer stay in your apartment, he will almost certainly tell you how grateful he is that you gave him a place to stay, especially since he had no place else to go. He will end by telling you that you're his best friend, making you feel too guilty to ask him to leave.

Make sense? Good! Here's today's question: It's the first 10 minutes of the episode. (Remember, your day is only a half hour long.) You are taking care of a friend's pet goldfish while she is away, and unfortunately, it has picked that time to die. Your friend is coming home soon. What do you do?

A: I got a lot of great answers to this question. Here's one of my favorites:

ok, you obviously want to try everything imaginable to keep from telling her (as she would be quite upset with you...but not nearly as upset as you think she will be) so you try a variety of amusing ways to avoid telling her. you try propping it up in the little sunken ship or in one of the plants but when it keeps floating there so obviously dead-like, you might even attempt a little mouth to mouth to revive the little fella (that is chock full of visual comedic possibilities). after this failed attempt you either replace it with a toy fish (hoping that she is as stupid as Cindy snow and that she will later think that she must have killed it) or you go to the pet store to buy another and try to fool her with that. In the end, just as you are about to thank her for the "I Love New Jersey" T-shirt she brought back for you and leave, she says "hey, wait a minute, flounder only had 67 stripes of yellow on him. this fish, with 71 stripes, is a clear imposter." then you explain what happened and she says "oh geez, as much as flounder meant to me, you should know that i value our friendship even more. don't ever think that anything can make me that mad at you." you both smile at the valuable lesson you've learned and hug for a real long time and then you say let's go to the regal beagle for a shirley temple.

Q: Remember those happy, carefree days of high school? I personally have fond recollections of being on the wrong end of a locker-stuffing party. What is your favorite memory? Well, if you answered "taking the SATs", then today's trivia question is perfect for you: The Flintstones are to The Jetsons as Welcome Back Kotter is to ???

A: The basic premise of both The Flintstones and The Jetsons is the same: To show the life of a family at the one extreme of history/technology. The former portrays life in the Stone Age, whereas the latter shows the life of a similar family in the distant future. Both shows are based on the same variable brought to two opposite extremes.

Welcome Back Kotter is also a show which brings its premise to the extreme: It portrays a high school classroom filled with NY's most underachieving students. To make the same analogy hold, we need a show that takes place in a high school classroom filled with NY's most overachieving students. Head of the Class fits this perfectly. A similar argument can be made for Beverly Hills: 90210, which I also accepted.
